Functional Capacity Assessments, typically conducted by Occupational Therapists, provide a comprehensive overview of what you can and can’t do in your daily life. These assessments identify how your disability impacts your daily activities and participation in the community. They focus on your abilities in areas such as:
The information gathered helps support your NDIS plan by identifying the right level and type of support to help you live more independently and achieve your goals.
Functional Capacity Assessments can assist you with:
Needs Assessments are designed to evaluate the level of support an individual requires for daily living and to assist in achieving their personal goals. These assessments are typically conducted by qualified allied health professionals—such as occupational therapists, psychologists, or other specialists—depending on the individual’s needs.
Needs Assessments are often used during key NDIS milestones, such as plan reviews, plan reassessments, or when there are significant changes in circumstances. They play a critical role in identifying the most appropriate services, supports, and interventions to enhance independence, community participation, and overall wellbeing.
Assistive Technology Assessments are conducted by qualified allied health professionals—most commonly Occupational Therapists, and in some cases, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, or other specialists depending on the type of AT required.
These assessments evaluate an individual’s specific needs to identify the most appropriate aids, equipment, devices, and technologies that support independence, daily functioning, and community participation. They result in personalised recommendations and detailed reports tailored to the individual’s goals, daily activities, and functional requirements.
Common types of Assistive Technology may include Communication devices, Mobility aids, Adaptive tools for daily living, and Safety and environmental control equipment. All recommendations are evidence-based and aligned with NDIS guidelines, helping ensure participants receive the right supports to enhance their independence and quality of life.
Home and Living Assessments designed to inform housing and support options that align with an individual’s specific needs, disability-related functional capacity, and available formal and informal supports.
These assessments help identify the most appropriate living arrangements and supports to promote safety, independence, and quality of life—ensuring they are tailored to the participant’s goals and NDIS plan.
Vocational Assessments evaluate an individual’s skills, education, abilities, and interests, while also considering the impact of injuries, disabilities, or health conditions on their work capacity.
These assessments are especially valuable during key transition periods—such as leaving school, re-entering the workforce, or experiencing significant changes in functional ability. They help to identify suitable career pathways, training opportunities, and any required workplace supports or modifications.
Vocational Assessments are typically conducted by qualified psychologists, vocational specialists, occupational therapists, or rehabilitation professionals, and can play a crucial role in guiding participants toward meaningful, sustainable employment in line with their goals and capabilities.
Employment Assessments, Counselling, and Advice services are aligned with NDIS Employment Supports to help individuals explore and prepare for meaningful work.
We assist participants to identify their strengths, interests, and any potential barriers to employment. Using a person-centred and strengths-based approach, we work together to develop tailored vocational pathways that align with your NDIS goals and build your capacity to engage in the workforce.
These services can be accessed under NDIS funding categories such as Finding and Keeping a Job (CB Employment) and Improved Daily Living (CB Daily Living).
